3 Safety tips for both newbie and advanced sub ohm vaping

Thanks to a steadily growing interest in sub ohm vaping, manufacturers are producing a wider variety of consistently more advanced technology. Progress is occurring at such a rapid pace that it is sometimes difficult to keep up. While this progress usually means that the vaping community must no longer rely so heavily on modifying their own devices, we shouldn’t automatically assume that everything for sale is 100% foolproof. Here are a few safety tips for both the newbie and advanced sub ohm vaper.

1. Newbies should use regulated mods.

Regulated mods allow the wattage sent to the coil to be easily modified or adjusted, regardless of the resistance level. They are perfect for newbies because they are designed with safety measures that reduce the risks of electrical shorts that can cause explosions or damage your battery. However, this doesn’t mean that all regulated mods are 100% foolproof. After all, we are still talking about electricity here. Any electronic device has the possibility of malfunctioning. So always purchase a higher quality product.

2. Beware of mechanical mods.

Mechanical mods should be reserved to only the most experienced sub ohm vapers because, unlike regulated mods, they do not have the same internal circuitry and safety features. The battery alone is responsible for transmitting the wattage to the coil, and as the battery weakens over time, so does the voltage received by the coil. It’s all very complicated, and an experienced sub ohm vaper will often use an ohm meter to check the resistance of the coil throughout the lifespan of the battery. Making sure that air vents are always working properly is also critical.

3. Test coil builds over and over.

Building your first few coils can be very liberating, but don’t make the mistake of assuming that you only need to test a new coil once. It might be functioning perfectly fine on the day of the final build, but it won’t stay that way forever. Experienced sub ohm vapers who build their own coils always check them several times throughout the coil’s lifespan using an ohm reader to ensure that they are still 100% safe. And if you begin noticing that the vaping device is warm to the touch even though you haven’t been using it for several hours, this may be a sign that the device is short circuiting.
