What is a Clearomizer?

Posted by

For those who are new to the world of vaping, you may begin to run across certain strange-sounding words during your research. Different vaping pens use different mechanical devices to transfer the e-juice to the heating coil which produces the vapor. Some use an atomizer or an “atty.” Others use a cartomizer or a “carto.” And brands like the Kanger EMOW use a clearomizer or a “clearo.” To make matters even more confusing, clearomizers actually have a tiny atomizer at the core.

The Atomizer

Think of this as the more basic method of delivering the  ejuice to the heating coil. The atomizer does not, however, hold the liquid. It is usually a type of wick that soaks up the ejuice and funnels it back to the heating coil. So, if your vaping device consists of only an atomizer without a clearomizer or cartomizer, you would essentially have to “drip” a few droplets of the e-juice onto the wick each and every time that you use it. As you might imagine, this can become rather tedious very quickly.

The Cartomizer

Cartomizers are commonly found in many of your e-cigs. Unlike an atomizer, cartomizers come with a tank filled with a sort of polyfill material that stores extra e-juice. This means that we can use these devices for a longer period of time. Instead of a wick, most cartos supply the e-juice to a vertical heating coil by way of a polyfill material. And some cartomizer brands use a horizontal coil that deliver the liquid from the polyfill to the heating coil by way of a wick. It can all be rather confusing to a vaping newbie in the very beginning.

The Clearomizer

Then came the clearomizer. It gets its name from the “clear” storage tank that holds the e-juice. This is the most advance technology available. The vaping liquid is delivered to the heating coil by way of a wick. No polyfill material is needed of any kind. The benefits of a clearomizer are almost too numerous to count, but here are a few of the most important:

  • No polyfill means better tasting, more natural flavor.
  • Clear tanks allow the user to visually monitor the amount of liquid in the pen.
  • Clearomizer tanks can hold much more premium eLiquid, up to 6.0 ml. A single tank might last a user for an entire day or longer, depending on how much you vape.
  • Clear and easily accessible tanks without any polyfill are extremely easy to clean.
  • A vaping pen with a clearomizer can be used almost indefinitely, far outlasting a cartomizer device or an e-cig.

Most experienced vapers started out buying e-cigs with disposable cartomizers found in our local convenience stores. Once we transitioned to a clearomizer vaping pen, like the Kanger EMOW, we instantly noticed a huge difference in taste, convenience, and enjoyment. Clearomizers are still relatively new to the vaping industry. So, if you have recently purchased a Kanger EMOW as your very first vaping pen, then you are really starting out with a top-of-the-line device.
