Even today, many people like to burn this dry herb when they relocate to a new home as a type of blessing ritual to eliminate all negative energies from the previous residents. But the secret benefits of sage do not stop there. Medical research shows that vaping sage can prevent premature graying, improve cognitive memory, cure depression, and even help to fight diabetes.

Vaping sage to improve cognitive memory

A 2016 study published on the NCBI website entitled Salvia (Sage): A Review of its Potential Cognitive-Enhancing and Protective Effects indicates that sage therapy is helpful in improving cognitive memory functions in Alzheimer’s patients.Scientists believe that the higher levels of salvianolic acids, rosmarinic acid, lithospermic acids, sagecoumarin, yunnaneic acids, and sagernic acid play a significant role.

“Overall, evidence for the cognitive-enhancing and protective effects of Salvia plants is promising. However, greater investigation is essential to help us elucidate the potential of this commonly ingested herb to enhance cognitive health and wellbeing.”

In 2012, a group of researchers conducted an experiment involving 40 patients afflicted with type 2 diabetes. The scientists asked each participant to add sage therapy into their daily health regimen, and the results were truly astonishing. At the end of the trail, all patients exhibited tremendous improvements in triglycerides, cholesterol, fasting and average glucose levels. In fact, all 40 participants also experienced significant increases in “good” cholesterol, as well. The study entitled Improved glycemic control and lipid profile in hyperlipidemic type 2 diabetic patients consuming Salvia officinalis L. leaf extract: a randomized placebo is readily available for review via the NCBI website.

Sage is also well-known for its higher levels of luteolin, diosmetin, and apigenin which are helpful in managing stress, anxiety, and depression. The dry herb St. John’s Wort is another alternative therapy that is perfectly legal to vape, but sage is considered more patient-friendly, especially for those currently taking other prescription medications.
