Vaping chamomile boosts immunity system, says research

Posted by

Millions of insomniacs around the world have long known that drinking chamomile tea can often induce a restful, peaceful night’s sleep. What many in the vaping community may not realize is that this daisy-like flower can also slow the aging process and even boost the immunity system. Studies show that chamomile’s higher anti-bacterial properties help kill certain germs and viruses within the mouth that can so easily lead to the flu, the common cold, and other illnesses.

Chamomile also contains increased amounts of phenolic and flavonoid compounds which can stimulate T-cell and leukocyte production to help the body eradicate pre-cancerous cells and prevent other types of infections. In fact, many physicians often recommend chamomile therapies to a variety of immunocompromised patients, including those with HIV, Wiscott-Aldrich syndrome, and chronic granulomatous disease.

A 2005 research study published by the American Chemical Society (ACS) also notes that the extra quantities of glycine found in chamomile acts as a natural nerve relaxant which is probably why it is so effective in inducing sleep. The extra glycine has also shown to relax the uterus, relieve menstrual cramps, and relieve muscle aches, pains, and spasms. The study entitled Chamomile Tea: New Evidence Supports Health Benefits is available in Science Daily.

“Drinking the tea also was associated with an increase in urinary levels of glycine, an amino acid that has been shown to relieve muscle spasms. This may explain why the tea appears to be helpful in relieving menstrual cramps in women, probably by relaxing the uterus, say the researchers. Glycine also is known to act as a nerve relaxant, which may also explain why the tea seems to act as a mild sedative, the scientists note. Glycine supplements are sold in stores for that purpose, they add.”

Another side benefit of this wonderful dry herb is that the higher levels of anti-oxidants also help slow the aging process of the skin and hair by preventing cellular damage caused by UV radiation and free radicals. Meanwhile, the higher levels of flavonoids and anti-bacterial properties are very good for heart health, especially among the elderly. And according to the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), filling vaporizers with chamomile tea also relaxes the digestive tract which can be useful in treating gastrointestinal disorders such as indigestion, flatulence, diarrhea, nausea, and even motion sickness.
