4 Tips for Curing Vapers Tongue

Posted by

Vapers tongue is a temporary condition that depletes our ability to taste and smell. In some cases, the tongue can begin to exhibit physical symptoms that include red, swollen taste buds or a discoloration of the tongue. But don’t worry. We are going to show you some very simple ways to cure this strange but common abnormality.

1.  Change your e-juice flavor.

This is one of the wonderful benefits of vaping. In the old days when most of us were smoking tobacco cigarettes, we tended to choose one particular brand and smoke them for years at a time. Vaping works differently. We can switch it up whenever we like and rarely witness any negative withdrawal symptoms. We don’t get “addicted” to e-juices like we do with tobacco. As we discussed in Wednesday’s post, one of the most common causes of vapers tongue is vaping the same flavor of e-juice for far too long. Next time you experience a decreased sense of taste or smell, try one of the other delicious flavors of e-juice in our Viscid Collection!

2.  Drink more water.

Vaping tends to dehydrate the oral cavity, although not to the same extent that smoking tobacco cigarettes does. This dehydration can lead to the physical symptoms of vapers tongue and cause us to lose our sense of taste and smell temporarily. The solution is simple. Drink more water!

3.  Suck on a lemon.

Sometimes, the foods that we eat can have temporary effects on the taste buds. Eating lots of spicy foods is a good example. If you are experiencing a sudden surge of vapors tongue, try cleansing the pallet first. A quick home remedy is to suck on a lemon. Or eat a few saltines with a glass of water.

4.  Brush your teeth.

For about a week, you might want to increase the number of times that you brush your teeth each day. Yes, this may sound a bit odd, but losing the senses of taste and smell is also a common symptom of gingivitis and other gum disease. If the condition persists after trying the other previously mentioned solutions, you may want to take a trip to the dentist for a quick checkup.

Heavy vapers especially can begin to experience vapers tongue. But remember that the condition is likely only temporary. Follow these four simple cures, and one of them is bound to work. If the condition persists, consider going to your primary care physician.
